The Westlake boys’ lacrosse teams travel to Houston Nov. 18-19 for the Cy-Fair tourney. The event gives experienced players the opportunity to reignite the teamwork that produced a terrific second half to last season and a trip to the area playoffs. New players get a glimpse of what to expect come spring by competing against some of Texas’ top high school clubs. Varsity and JV teams will participate.
The Chaps varsity expects to sport new uniform shirts this year, but not because they want to be fashion-plates. Rather, the league referees have complained that the lack of color contrast on the old jerseys made the numbers hard to see. “Nearly outside regulation,” said one ref.
Besides the new shirts, the lacrosse parents’ organization wants to buy at least one, better two, heart defibrillators, for the teams. Extra car wash ticket sales are helping the cause.
