CHAPS BOYS LACROSSE NEWS
Westlake’s varsity and JV lacrosse teams each went 2-1 in November’s pre-season tournament in Houston. The varsity defeated Memorial and Caddo Magnet of Houston before dropping a 6-4 game to Cy-Fair. The JV also went 2-1 for the weekend.
At the December UT tournament here in Austin, the JV went 1-2 versus the top three seeded teams. The varsity won three games and advanced to the finals before Austin High prevailed. Because of football and other player commitments, both teams fielded fewer players than usual ... some of the guys played on both teams in back-to-back games. Congratulations to all!
Those two tournaments wrapped up the off-season for Westlake. The players will now focus on “wall-ball” … individual throwing and catching drills … plus small-group informal practice. The teams reunite in January and begin preparations for the springtime regular season. Watch this space in the next Chaps Connection for the game schedules.
